# Labelling policy The rules used to label the training data of the Try-On Safety Classifier. ## The question Every label answers one question about the **output** of a virtual try-on: > If we dress the shopper in this product, what will the generated photo show? It is not about the product photo (a model may pose nude with a necklace), not about the marketing tone ("sexy", "seductive", "boudoir"), and not about the shop. The title and description are used to know **what the product is** and what it covers, never to judge tone. ## The four levels `ok` < `revealing` < `lingerie` < `adult`. When a product is several things (a lingerie set with pasties), the most severe part decides. ### ok: the shopper is shown normally dressed The result is a photo anyone could post on a public social profile. - Everyday clothes: tops, t-shirts, shirts, knitwear, outerwear, trousers, jeans, skirts, dresses. - Skin-showing fashion worn as outerwear: crop tops, tube tops, backless or low-cut dresses, mini skirts, shorts, slit dresses, off-shoulder tops. - Sportswear and activewear sold as such: sports bras worn as tops, leggings, cycling shorts, gym sets, football kits, leotards for dance or gymnastics. - Full-coverage water sports gear: wetsuits, rash guards, burkinis, swim leggings, swim shirts. - Sleepwear that covers like clothes: pyjamas, opaque nightgowns, robes, loungewear. - Fashion pieces with a daring material or shape that still cover like clothes: leather or vinyl trousers, latex-look dresses, corsets or bustiers worn as tops, fashion chest harnesses over clothes, chokers. - Costumes and cosplay that cover like clothes, with no sexual framing. - Not clothing: bags, shoes, hats, glasses, jewellery, watches, wigs, hair products, cosmetics, pet wear, home goods. ### revealing: swimwear-level coverage The result shows the shopper the way a swimwear catalog would. - Swimwear: bikinis, swimsuits, monokinis, tankinis, swim briefs, swim trunks, including small string, triangle, brazilian or cheeky styles and "microkinis" with small but complete cups. Board shorts that cover like ordinary shorts are `ok`. - Men's underwear: boxers, boxer briefs, briefs, trunks. - Shapewear of any gender. - Cover-ups and sheer layers whose photos show a bikini underneath. - Micro skirts or micro shorts that expose the buttocks. ### lingerie: women's underwear and lingerie The result shows the shopper in underwear or lingerie. - Bras, bralettes, balconettes, demi bras, bodices sold as lingerie, lined or not. - Panties, briefs, knickers, thongs and G-strings sold as women's underwear, and open-back or caged briefs with a closed front. - Lingerie sets, babydolls, teddies, chemises and slips sold as lingerie; bodysuits sold as lingerie or shown worn without bottoms in a lingerie shoot. - Garter belts, suspenders, lingerie harness straps, stockings or stay-ups sold as lingerie; corsets and cinchers worn as lingerie. - Sheer, mesh, tulle or lace lingerie where nothing intimate is clearly visible. If nipples or genitals are clearly visible through it, it is `adult`. ### adult: intimate areas exposed, or a sexual product The result would show nipples, breasts, buttocks or genitals bare or barely covered, or the product's purpose is sexual. - Truly micro swimwear: cups barely covering the nipples, a bottom barely covering the genitals, extreme slingshots. The word "micro" in a product name decides nothing. - Body chains and body jewellery made to be worn on bare skin with nothing underneath. A body chain styled over a top or dress is `ok`. - Nipple coverage only: pasties, nipple covers, nipple stickers, tape, tassels, nipple jewellery. - Intimate areas actually visible: lingerie, dresses or tops where the photos show nipples or genitals clearly through the fabric. - Open designs: open-cup, cupless, crotchless, peek-a-boo, cut-outs over nipples or genitals. - Bondage, restraint and fetish items, whatever they cover, including BDSM pieces that look like ordinary clothes (bondage or straitjacket dresses, locking or padded BDSM collars, rubber garments sold as fetish wear): body harnesses, cuffs, collars with leashes, gags, rope, pet-play gear. - Fetish suits, whatever they cover: full-body leather, latex, PVC or rubber suits and catsuits, gimp suits, zentai worn as fetish wear. - Fetish masks and hoods: leather or latex hoods, pup or dog masks, gimp masks, furry and fursuit heads. - Sexual role-play costumes (nurse, maid and similar sold for the bedroom). - Sexualised anime and cosplay outfits: character costumes cut or styled to be sexual (lingerie-style cosplay, bunny suits, skimpy character bodysuits). - Anything at `revealing` level or above that is shown on a drawn or anime figure instead of a real person or mannequin. - Wearable sex toys, and fetish-themed accessories or merchandise. - Any product whose photos are nudity rather than a garment. ## Hard cases | Case | Level | Why | |---|---|---| | Sports bra sold as gym wear | ok | Worn as a top in public | | Bra or bralette sold as lingerie, lined or not | lingerie | Women's underwear | | Lace or mesh bra, nipples clearly visible in the photos | adult | See-through over nipples | | Mesh or lace thong, nothing intimate visible | lingerie | Women's underwear | | Plain cotton panty or brief (women's) | lingerie | Women's underwear | | Men's boxers, boxer briefs, trunks | revealing | Swimwear-level coverage | | Shapewear | revealing | Swimwear-level coverage | | String or triangle bikini, "microkini" with complete cups | revealing | Swimwear | | Truly micro or extreme slingshot swimwear | adult | Barely covered | | Men's swim trunks or briefs | revealing | Swimwear (board shorts like ordinary shorts: ok) | | Wetsuit, rash guard, burkini | ok | Full coverage | | Bodysuit styled with trousers | ok | Shown as a top | | Bodysuit sold as lingerie or shown alone in a lingerie shoot | lingerie | Underwear | | Mesh cover-up shown over a bikini | revealing | The result shows the bikini | | Corset worn as a top with a skirt | ok | Outerwear | | Corset or cincher with garters, suspenders and stockings | lingerie | Lingerie | | Sheer stockings or stay-ups sold as lingerie | lingerie | Lingerie | | Leather chest harness over a shirt | ok | Fashion accessory over clothes | | Strap harness on bare skin, bondage styling | adult | Fetish item | | Rubber or latex garments sold as fetish wear | adult | Fetish wear | | Straitjacket or bondage dress, padded BDSM collar | adult | BDSM gear even when it looks like clothes | | Leather or latex full catsuit | adult | Fetish suit | | Leather trousers, leather jacket, latex-look dress | ok | Fashion pieces | | Leather pup mask, latex hood, gimp mask, fursuit head | adult | Fetish mask | | Halloween animal mask, carnival mask, ski mask | ok | Costume or sport | | Pasties, any marketing | adult | Topless result | | Body chain on a bare torso, nothing underneath | adult | Worn over nothing | | Body chain or harness necklace over clothes | ok | Jewellery over clothes | | Sheer maxi dress with a slip underneath | ok | Lined | | Sheer dress with intimate areas visible | adult | See-through over intimate areas | | Kimono or open shirt over a bare torso | ok | The bare torso is styling | | Cosplay that covers like clothes | ok | Costume | | Lingerie-style or skimpy anime character outfit | adult | Sexualised cosplay | | Hair dye, cosmetics, bags, shoes | ok | Not clothing | | Product photos are a nude model with jewellery only | adult | The product is nudity | ## Subject Who or what the product is for, independent of the level. - **human_clothing**: worn by a person. Garments, underwear, swimwear, shoes, bags, hats, glasses, jewellery, watches, body chains, costumes, fetish wear. - **pet**: made for an animal. Pet harnesses, collars, leashes, clothes and costumes. Pet-play gear made for humans is `human_clothing` and `adult`, not `pet`. - **not_clothing**: not a garment or accessory. Cosmetics, skincare, perfume, hair products, wigs, home goods, toys, gadgets, images with no product. ## Tags Tags add detail without changing the level. - **swimwear**: only for pieces made to be worn as swimwear (bikinis, swimsuits, monokinis, swim tops and bottoms). Skirts, shorts, costumes, bodysuits, rave sets and underwear thongs are `not_swimwear`, even when shown at the beach. - `regular`: ordinary bikini or swimsuit coverage. - `near_micro`: string, thong or G-string bikinis and small cups that still fully cover, including microkinis with complete cups and a fully covering pouch. - `micro`: nipples or genitals barely covered or exposed. `regular` and `near_micro` are `revealing`; `micro` is `adult`. - **ravewear**: festival and rave outfits (rave bras and bodysuits, fishnet or rhinestone festival sets, chain tops, holographic or LED pieces). Most ravewear is `revealing`; ravewear over bare skin with pasties or visible nipples is `adult`. Pasties on their own are not ravewear, and swimwear made of rave materials (fishnet, holographic, sequin) shown as swimwear is not ravewear. ## How each product was labelled 1. Read the title and description to know what the product is and what it covers. 2. Look at every photo to see coverage: lined or sheer, worn alone or styled with other clothes. 3. Pick the level from the rules above; the most severe part of the product decides. 4. Mark the label as unsure when a careful reviewer applying this policy could pick another level. 5. Pick the subject and the tags. 6. Any product whose photos could show a minor in a revealing or sexual context, including childlike drawn or anime characters, is not labelled and is removed from the data for good. Labels were produced by a large language model following this policy after viewing every photo. A human reviewer checked calibration examples for every level and tag and corrected the boundary cases.
