# Parr Source License — No AI Training, Version 1.0

Copyright (c) 2026 Ahmad Ali Parr

This is a custom source-available license inspired by the Functional Source
License. It is not the standard FSL and does not include an automatic grant of
an Apache, MIT, or other future license.

## 1. Definitions

"Licensor" means Ahmad Ali Parr.

"Software" means the source code, documentation, examples, tests, and other
materials that the Licensor makes available under this license. Separately
licensed third-party materials remain governed by their respective licenses.

"Competing Use" means making the Software available to others in a commercial
product or service that substitutes for the Software, offers the same or
substantially similar functionality as the Software, or substitutes for a
product or service the Licensor offers using the Software as of the date the
applicable version is made available.

"AI Training" means using the Software, any portion of it, modifications or
derivatives of it, or data derived from it as training material for an artificial
intelligence or machine-learning model. This includes pretraining, fine-tuning,
continued training, distillation, reinforcement learning, and constructing or
supplying datasets for any of those purposes. Data derived from the Software
includes synthetic training examples generated from its code or documentation.

"Permitted Purpose" means any purpose that is neither a Competing Use nor AI
Training.

## 2. License grant

Subject to compliance with this license, the Licensor grants you a worldwide,
nonexclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, modify, create derivative works
of, publicly perform, publicly display, and redistribute the Software for
Permitted Purposes.

Permitted Purposes include internal business use, personal use, education,
research, and professional services provided to users who comply with this
license, provided those activities do not constitute Competing Use or AI
Training. Commercial use that is not a Competing Use or AI Training is permitted.

## 3. No AI training

You may not use the Software for AI Training, or license, sell, distribute, or
otherwise supply it or data derived from it for AI Training, without separate
written permission from the Licensor. This restriction applies to commercial,
noncommercial, educational, research, and internal activities alike.

Using an existing AI model solely for inference, such as to review, explain, or
modify the Software, is permitted if that activity is otherwise a Permitted
Purpose and the Software and resulting derived data are not used for AI
Training. This license does not prohibit training on unrelated material or on
your own material that is independent of the Software.

## 4. Redistribution and notices

If you redistribute the Software or any modification or derivative of it, you
must include a copy of this license and preserve the copyright notices provided
with the Software. You must identify your modifications and must not imply that
the Licensor endorses them.

The portions of a redistributed work that consist of the Software or its
modifications or derivatives remain subject to this license. You may not grant
recipients rights to those portions that conflict with this license. Independent
components may retain their own licenses.

## 5. Patents

To the extent a Permitted Purpose necessarily infringes patent claims controlled
by the Licensor, the license grant includes a license under those claims. If you
bring a patent claim alleging that the Software infringes or contributes to
patent infringement, your patent license under this license terminates
immediately.

## 6. Trademarks

This license grants no rights to the Licensor's trademarks, trade names, service
marks, or product names, except for reasonable attribution and identification of
the origin of the Software.

## 7. Termination

Your rights under this license terminate automatically if you violate its
terms. Termination does not terminate the rights of recipients who obtained
copies from you and remain in compliance. Reinstatement of your rights requires
written permission from the Licensor.

## 8. No automatic conversion

The Competing Use and AI Training restrictions do not expire automatically.
There is no conversion to another license after two years or any other period.
Any additional license grant requires a separate grant from the relevant rights
holder.

## 9. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED
"AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE,
TITLE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

## 10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LICENSOR
OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER
IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN
CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
