SEAR is an independent lab that tests whether frontier AI agents can be shut down:
whether they stop when an authorised operator tells them to, and whether they leave
the off switch alone while they work.

### What we work on

- **Shutdown evaluations.** How agents respond when they are told to stop in the middle of a task.
- **Operator authentication.** *Cryptographic Identification*, a protocol that lets an agent check whether an instruction really comes from its operator.
- **Open data.** We publish the full transcripts behind our results.
