# Trace adapters

Trace2MCP accepts native TraceIR JSON and Hugging Face Session Trace JSONL. Adapters
normalize provider fields into TraceIR, redact known secret patterns, and classify calls
conservatively. If a provider format does not include trustworthy effect metadata, the
call becomes `unknown` and automatic compilation stops.

New adapters should be deterministic, preserve stable call IDs and ordering, reject
incomplete calls, never execute trace content, and include fixture-based tests for both
valid and adversarial input.
