# Marathon Bib Detector
During a marathon, it is often required to wear a bib on which is written the participant number. It allow the organizers to easily identify someone with thousands of players.
This project aim to automatically recognize and read those identifiers, to later be able to track the participants, their progress, their estimated time of arrivals, and other data.
This repository is the archive of a school project from 2025 on which I trained an AI to recognize the bib wore by the participants.
It will explain how was our model created and how does it work.
## Data Sources
The base for our dataset was created from a list of YouTube videos, filming hours of peoples running in different race and country, with different lightning, different angles of view, different cameras, and different norms for the bib to make the model as generic as we could and to avoid over-training.
