Why

For a child who cannot reliably use a mouse or a keyboard, a robot you can simply
talk to is not a nicer interface. It is the difference between studying on your
own and needing an adult sitting next to you.

MirrorBuddy was built for children with dyslexia, ADHD, autism and cerebral palsy — and
Reachy Mini gives it a body: eyes that follow you, a voice that answers, and movement that
shows it is listening.

What it does

Talks and listens. Natural spoken conversation. Short answers, one
thing at a time.

32 professors, by voice. "Voglio matematica", "chiama Galileo" — the
persona and the voice change.

Study coaches. For when the problem is the method, not the subject.

Looks at homework. Show it an exercise; it reads it and helps step by
step, without giving the answer away.

Moves like it is listening. Smooth body language that follows the child
and shifts with the mood.

Stops when told. "Basta", "zitto" — it goes quiet and waits to be
called back by name.

Setup

Install from the Reachy Mini app store. On first start the robot opens a settings page
(port
7862
) where you enter your Azure OpenAI Realtime endpoint and key, the
child's name and their learning profile. The professors are fetched live from MirrorBuddy.

Privacy

Built for children: the camera is used only when explicitly asked, one frame at a time,
and announced out loud first. No conversation recordings are kept on the robot.
