## About Us
|
| 13 |
We are a research group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) focused on developing platforms and tools for the analysis and interpretation of mass spectrometric data. Our goal is to make this data more accessible and usable for the broader scientific community, and to translate findings into research and clinical practice.

## Research Focus
|
| 16 |
Our research combines state-of-the-art methods from computer science, such as in-memory databases and neural networks, to improve the understanding and analysis of mass spectrometric data. We aim to develop integrative tools for scientists to evaluate, analyze, and interpret their own data.
|
| 17 |
|
| 18 |
## Team
|
| 19 |
Our team is led by Prof. Dr. Mathias Wilhelm, an expert in computational proteomics and bioinformatics. Prof. Wilhelm has a strong background in bioinformatics and informatics, and has worked at the Harvard Medical School and the University of Bielefeld before joining TUM. Full of current team members is [here](https://www.mls.ls.tum.de/en/compms/group-members/).

### ProteomeTools
|
| 24 |
-
The ProteomeTools project, a collaboration between TUM, JPT Peptide Technologies, SAP SE, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, aims to translate the human proteome into molecular and digital tools for drug discovery, personalized medicine, and life science research. This project involves synthesizing and analyzing ~1.4 million synthetic peptides covering all human gene products and post-translational modifications using multimodal LC-MS/MS. The scientific community is encouraged to participate by suggesting peptide sets, offering measurements using different LC-MS/MS methods, or developing applications and data analysis tools.

### PROSPECT PTMs
|
| 27 |
-
A collection of annotated datasets for applied machine learning and deep learning in proteomics.
|
| 28 |

### DIAS
|
| 29 |
-
The DIAS project focuses on proteomics, the systematic study of all proteins, which play crucial roles in nearly all biological processes. With the generation of large datasets in protein research, the need for complex bioinformatic applications to efficiently utilize this data has increased. DIAS specifically addresses the integration of heterogeneous data, emphasizing the importance of innovation in bioinformatics.

### PROTrEIN
|
| 31 |
-
PROTrEIN is a European Research and Training network designed to educate the next generation of computational proteomics researchers. This interdisciplinary network brings together experts in computational proteomics, network biology, data visualization, mass spectrometry, and gamification from leading European academic and private institutions. Comprising 11 beneficiaries and 8 partner organizations, PROTrEIN aims to advance computational proteomics through innovative research and training.

### CLINICAL MASS SPECTROMETRY CENTER MUNICH
|
| 33 |
-
The CLINICAL MASS SPECTROMETRY CENTER MUNICH integrates experts in proteomics, medicine, and bioinformatics to apply mass spectrometry-based proteomics in clinical settings. Focused on diseases of the nervous system, CLINSPECT-M aims to demonstrate the feasibility of mass spectrometry in systems medicine, provide insights into disease biology, identify biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment, and offer clinical translation opportunities for personalized patient care.
