Plain language and length limits; simpler page copy; reading-level checks
Prompt asks for about an 8th-grade reading level and caps help, fact-check, and practice replies at ~80 words, one idea at a time, while keeping the person's own words when reflecting. Page sections rewritten from grade 8-12 to grade 4-5. tools/battery.py now flags long or dense replies. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>fc8da86 -
Second Thoughts: confidential space for second thoughts about a vote
A free chat space for people with complicated feelings about how they voted, deployed as a Hugging Face Space (Docker + FastAPI, Claude Opus 5, key held server-side, nothing stored, per-client rate limiting). - Conversation design built around a defined outcome and a small set of moves: receive, reflect in their words, invite, occasional open question. No either/or questions or option menus, no naming feelings they didn't name, no verdicts in either direction. - Phase-gated modes: listening by default; direct help only when asked; fact-checking only when invited and steady, teaching method and "check me too" rather than answers. - Practice mode: opt-in, trauma-informed rehearsal of telling someone (who/safety, say it, notice, steady, optional mild role-play, keep), with a gentle step path and no scores. Unsafe-person disclosures get the DV hotline, crisis gets 988. - Warm, non-pathologizing framing; Leaving MAGA stories and support group offered lightly as a next run…570a433
