# VoiceHaul
|
| 20 |
+
|
| 21 |
+
**Long-horizon evaluation and failure-onset diagnosis for empathic voice agents.**
|
| 22 |
+
|
| 23 |
+
A turn-level rating tells you whether a response *sounded* right. It cannot tell
|
| 24 |
+
you whether a model still honours what the caller asked for twenty turns ago,
|
| 25 |
+
whether its calibration decays as a session runs long, whether it is regulating
|
| 26 |
+
the caller's affect or mirroring it back, or which turn broke a call that ended
|
| 27 |
+
badly.
|
| 28 |
+
|
| 29 |
+
This measures those four things, then measures how much human-rating budget you
|
| 30 |
+
need before any of them is detectable.
|
| 31 |
+
|
| 32 |
+
## The result it opens with
|
| 33 |
+
|
| 34 |
+
Five voice policies, scored two ways. A fixed-context turn panel — every policy
|
| 35 |
+
answering the same held-out caller states, each turn rated on its own, the way a
|
| 36 |
+
prompt-set leaderboard works. And the same policies actually holding forty-turn
|
| 37 |
+
conversations.
|
| 38 |
+
|
| 39 |
+
The two rankings are anti-correlated (ρ ≈ −0.90). The turn panel's best model is
|
| 40 |
+
the one that fails every conversation — because a turn panel holds the context
|
| 41 |
+
fixed, and in a real conversation the model creates the context it is later
|
| 42 |
+
scored on.
|
| 43 |
+
|
| 44 |
+
## What is real and what is simulated
|
| 45 |
+
|
| 46 |
+
**Simulated:** the callers, the policies, and the affect dynamics.
|
| 47 |
+
**Real:** the metrics, the estimators, the statistics, and the failure-onset
|
| 48 |
+
localization algorithm.
|
| 49 |
+
|
| 50 |
+
You cannot validate a measurement instrument without ground truth you control.
|
| 51 |
+
The page is explicit about which claims this can and cannot support, and about
|
| 52 |
+
the four open research questions that follow — each gated on rating data that
|
| 53 |
+
does not exist yet.
|
| 54 |
+
|
| 55 |
+
## Provenance
|
| 56 |
+
|
| 57 |
+
The measurement design is carried over from two earlier projects and is not new
|
| 58 |
+
work: [LongHaul-Bench](https://github.com/vahit19/LongHaul-Bench), a long-horizon
|
| 59 |
+
agent reliability benchmark over 1,000+ sequential episodes, and
|
| 60 |
+
[Runopsy](https://github.com/vahit19/runopsy), causal failure-onset diagnosis
|
| 61 |
+
with counterfactual replay.
