| ## Is this a real checkpoint? How is it related to MiniMax H3? | |
| Highway V1 is an independently loadable .safetensors checkpoint derived from MiniMax H3 through DaSiWa Hybrid v2 INT8. It contains inherited transformer weights and the Highway model definition. Verified runs load its transformer payload without reading the original H3 transformer checkpoint. It is not a model pretrained from scratch; source attribution is retained. | |
| ## Why does it need a matching runtime? | |
| Safetensors stores tensors and metadata; it does not implement a model's architecture. The Highway runtime executes the saved definition, and its ComfyUI nodes expose the controls. Use the checkpoint/runtime pair in [Downloads](DOWNLOADS.md). You do not need a separate Highway app. | |
| ## Why is the checkpoint about 20.97 GB? Is that the whole model installation? | |
| It is the checkpoint file size. Qwen encoding, video/audio VAEs and the optional reference reader remain separate dependencies. Their disk requirements are listed separately. File size alone does not establish compression or the RAM/VRAM needed for generation. | |
| ## Why is there no Steps slider? | |
| The current model-defined schedule uses a fixed 20 denoiser evaluations. The interface leaves that policy with the model. It is not step-free generation or adaptive per-scene stopping. Evaluation counts alone do not establish equal quality or speed; the published examples are the quality evidence. | |
| ## Can I use or train LoRAs? | |
| The integration supports compatible LoRA inference. The interface kit documents target names, shapes and scaling rules for community tools. A complete gradient-enabled trainer and full fine-tuned checkpoint export path are not supplied or qualified. Loading an adapter successfully does not guarantee improved image quality. | |
| ## Do the reference images become a text prompt? | |
| The images provide visual conditioning. Optional automatic reference assistance can associate character identities and add grounded clothing cues; it does not replace the image inputs. Reference fidelity and object ownership are not guaranteed. The interface accepts up to nine images; the public demonstration set uses four. | |
| ## Are all timings measurements of the latest package? | |
| No. The showcase retains the identities of the builds that produced it. Later qualification checks are listed separately in [Verified results](VERIFIED_RESULTS.md). Single-run measurements on a shared workstation are not hardware minimums or guaranteed latency; process RAM, allocator memory and whole-device VRAM have different boundaries. | |
| ## What does the 2688×1536 demonstration mean? | |
| That exact resolution was generated directly. I suggest trying 2560×1440 as a more practical high-resolution setting, but it was not benchmarked in this demonstration set. More pixels do not guarantee better motion. | |
| ## Do I have to install another Python or download every dependency myself? | |
| No. Download and extract the RC.3.5 integration ZIP, close ComfyUI and double-click **INSTALL_WINDOWS.bat**. Select your ComfyUI folder if asked and approve the displayed software downloads. The installer prepares Python 3.11, pinned libraries, FFmpeg and automatic-reference software while leaving ComfyUI's own Python unchanged. | |
| Restart ComfyUI, drag in **01 - Start Here.json**, and use **Prepare / download models** on Asset Profile. It finds compatible files, downloads what is missing, verifies SHA-256 and saves paths. | ## Is a workflow JSON enough on its own? | |
| A workflow describes the connected nodes and controls; it does not install Highway's runtime. Run the Windows installer once, then use the supplied workflows. I include all three workflows in the integration ZIP, so there is no need to download them separately unless you want to. | |
