The light hub β HTTP 0
Part of it all: the bridge β every public thing in one place, so none of it gets lost.
One button: β https://jessebrown1980.github.io/the-light-hub-http-0/
Open the light. Send the block to somebody, any way you like. Paste theirs back. The line is yours.
What is actually free
No server of ours touches your words. Once the channel opens it is browser to browser, directly. Nothing is stored, logged or relayed by anyone β there is nothing in the middle to store it.
No account. No install. No host. No registry.
One thing is not free, and it is stated rather than hidden
To find a route across the internet, browsers use a public STUN server to learn their own outside address. This page uses free public ones. They see that two addresses asked; they never see a word of what you say. On the same network it does not need them at all.
The address is the content
The colour on the page is taken from the sha-256 of your own offer β two brown
stops, banded 16β¦240, luminance-clamped 32β¦224, the same addressing as every
leaf and every zebra.
Nobody hands out names here, so nobody can take one away.
Why it costs nothing
A port is a label, not a socket. Participants do not cost connections β one channel carries labelled rooms, and the count does not grow with people. That is the actual saving, and it is Invariant 1 of the foundation:
"A 'port' is a label in
port.port.portβ¦form, not a TCP socket. One socket multiplexes infinite labeled rooms by parsing the envelope."
And the page is the node. WASM-era browsers run the whole thing; there is no process to start and nothing to keep alive.
The honest shape
one meeting point β then free forever
Not free from the first byte β free from the second. Two people have to find each other once. After that there is no one in the path and no one to ask.
