| The internet made promises it didn't keep. | |
| **Web 2.0** promised community. It delivered surveillance capitalism. | |

| **AI** promised intelligence. It delivered hallucination wrapped in confidence, vendor lock-in disguised as productivity, and a new class of dependency on infrastructure you don't own and can't inspect. | |
