mcp: Claude Code paints with a ChatGPT subscription by default; local agents and endpoints

#5
by yycc - opened

Follow-up to #4, from feedback on running the agent locally:

  • No API key needed. The Claude Code setup passed OPENAI_API_KEY and examples/claude_mcp.json left REMAKE_PAINT unset, so Claude Code users painted through the paid images API by default, and readers took it as required. Both now set REMAKE_PAINT=pool (codex with a ChatGPT subscription paints, as the codex setup already does); the images API is the stated alternative.
  • Local agents: a render worker uses nearly all of its card's memory, so a local model as the agent needs another GPU or another machine.
  • Other image endpoints: OPENAI_BASE_URL can point at any server that implements images.edit with several input images and returns b64_json (not tested with local models); one that reports no usage counts $0.15 a picture against REMAKE_MAX_USD.
