The element and property controls are a good foundation. Short tooltips explaining valid ranges, units, and defaults could make the next step much smoother. Especially for settings where a reasonable-looking number means something very different across material systems.
Thanks for pointing at the specific failure mode — it makes the fix much more concrete. Other interface suggestions are always welcome.
