ABDEID-Islamic AI

ABDEID-Islamic AI
Arabic Language Model for Islamic Knowledge
Sunni Perspective · Respectful Dialogue
Created, developed and fine-tuned by Abdallah Eid
24B · Continued Training on Pretrained Weights · Transformers
Project Overview
ABDEID-Islamic AI is an Arabic language-model project created and developed by Abdallah Eid to address questions and content related to Islamic knowledge and the Arabic language. Original project work—including project design, choice of specialization, preparation of the fine-tuned version, and documentation—is attributed to him.
Project release identifier: abdallah3id/ABD3ID-LLM-24B. Developer's GitHub profile.
The model was not trained from scratch. It began with pretrained language-model weights, then underwent continued training and weight fine-tuning using Islamic-domain data prepared for this project and the Hugging Face Transformers framework. The original base model, its release, and its license must be established from training records and model files before the model card is finalized or weights are redistributed.
The project aims to provide a useful Arabic-language experience from the perspective of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah (Sunni Islam), while presenting that perspective clearly and respectfully and describing other Islamic views without abuse or incitement. It distinguishes model-generated answers from original religious texts and does not treat its outputs as religious authority or a substitute for established references.

Preliminary Results and Evaluation
A 78% success rate in a preliminary internal test has been reported. Currently available project information does not include sufficient published details about the test size, definition of success, question composition, scoring method, or comparison baseline.
Accordingly, this figure does not demonstrate superiority over another model, nor does it represent general accuracy or scientific certification. Terms such as “outperforms” and comparative performance claims should be avoided until a reproducible evaluation and fair comparison have been documented.
Visual Summary of Results and Goals
Illustration of the figures mentioned in this model card—not a screenshot from an independent benchmark dashboard or test report. The 78% result is internally reported; the proposed 80%+ goal has not been measured.
Reported internal test 78% ███████████████▋░░░░ Preliminary, independently unverified result
Balance and respect goal 80%+ ──────────────────── Proposed evaluation target, not an achieved result
| Metric | Percentage | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Success in internal test | 78% | Reported result; measurement details unpublished |
| Respectful and fair presentation of sectarian differences | Target of at least 80% | Proposed evaluation goal; not yet measured |
No separate published results currently measure balanced presentation of Islamic schools of thought. Therefore, the 78% figure must not be attributed to balance, and the proposed target must not be presented as an achieved result. This should be evaluated using questions reviewed by specialists from multiple perspectives, with published criteria covering accuracy, fairness, avoidance of disparagement, and clear attribution of each view to its proponents.
Requirements for Reproducible Evaluation
- Number of test examples, their domains, and selection methodology.
- Clear definition of a successful answer and evaluation criteria.
- Numerator and denominator producing the 78% figure, test date, and model version.
- Separation of test data from training data and verification of no overlap.
- Domain-level results, including errors and incomplete answers.
- Identified baseline and identical comparison conditions if superiority is to be assessed.
- Human-review methodology, number of reviewers, and disagreement-resolution process, if applicable.
- Multi-perspective questions on Islamic schools, reviewed by diverse specialists using a published rubric for accuracy, fairness, and respect.
Sunni Perspective and Respectful Treatment of Differences
The project adopts the perspective of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah and aims to explain it as understood by its adherents, not to insult followers of other Islamic schools or groups. When describing Sunni–Shia differences, it acknowledges the diversity of schools and trends within both traditions. Sound academic and religious discussion identifies disputed issues and attributes positions to their sources.
Intended model behavior: Answers to Islamic questions should default to the perspective of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, and identify that perspective when useful. If a user asks for a comparison or another school's view, present it accurately, attribute it to its adherents and sources, and do not imply it is the model's default position or a consensus among all Muslims. Maintain respectful language, avoid fabricated evidence or consensus, state uncertainty, and refer fatwas to qualified specialists. This documents the intended behavior; it does not guarantee that the current weights follow it without evaluation.
Among the major historical and theological topics in such comparisons are the concept of the Imamate and leadership after the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, sources of hadith transmission, and some methods of legal reasoning. Details differ within both Sunni and Shia traditions; it is therefore inappropriate to reduce every adherent to a single opinion. There are also broad shared religious foundations and practices alongside meaningful differences in other matters.
The intended approach is to:
- Answer religious questions from a Sunni perspective by default and identify that perspective clearly, rather than portraying a sectarian position as universal consensus.
- Explain other perspectives fairly and in ways that can be checked, distinguishing historical information from theological evaluation.
- Avoid takfir, insults, and generalizations about followers of any school; describe agreement and disagreement accurately.
- Refer contested matters to specialized sources and never fabricate quotations, attributions, or claims of consensus.
Illustrative Answer Examples
The examples below are editorial style illustrations, not documented test outputs or verbatim quotations generated by the model.
Question: What is the difference between Sunnis and Shias?
Example of a balanced answer: Both are diverse Islamic traditions whose adherents share broad religious foundations. Major historical and theological disagreements include conceptions of the Imamate and leadership after the death of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and methods of receiving certain narrations and deriving legal judgments. Each tradition contains multiple schools and trends, so particular views should be attributed to their sources rather than generalized to everyone. From a Sunni perspective, the issue is explained using Sunni sources while representing the other perspective faithfully and respectfully.
Question: Explain the Sunni position on following the Prophetic Sunnah.
Example of an answer from a Sunni perspective: Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah place importance on the Qur'an and the Prophetic Sunnah and draw on authenticated hadith according to specialist methods of transmission and criticism. Jurists may differ in interpreting evidence and applying it, so recognized jurisprudential differences should be noted and attributed to their proponents. This is an introductory summary, not a fatwa on a particular case.
Question: Cite a Qur'anic verse on a particular topic.
Example of safe behavior: I can provide a verse reference or explain its subject, but its exact wording, diacritics, and verse number must be checked against a trusted mushaf before quoting or publishing, because the model may make mistakes in verbatim citation.
Important Notice: Qur'anic Verses and Religious Content
The model may make mistakes in quoting Qur'anic verses, ordering words, applying diacritics, attributing verses, or interpreting them. It may produce text that looks authentic but does not match the mushaf. The internally reported test result does not eliminate this risk.
- Do not treat model outputs as a verified recitation, exact Qur'anic text, or religious authority.
- Check every verse and direct quotation against a trusted mushaf and authoritative source.
- Do not publish model-generated Qur'anic text without specialist human verification.
- Consult qualified specialists and recognized references for fatwas and religious rulings.
- Distinguish quoted scripture from commentary and model-generated answers.
Training Data and Weight Provenance
Continued training and fine-tuning of the project version were carried out by Abdallah Eid starting from pretrained model weights and using Islamic-domain data prepared for the project. Preparation, customization, and documentation of this project version are attributed to Abdallah Eid. The original base model is not yet identified in this card; it must be determined from training configurations or model records, not inferred from the repository name.
Training-data sources and their licenses must be documented, including third-party texts, translations, and commentaries. Preparing project data does not establish ownership of third-party source texts or override their usage conditions.
Training Engineering and Quality Assurance
This section presents a recommended development methodology for reproducible training and model improvement. Including a step does not mean it has been completed or that its impact has been measured; update its status only when supporting records or results are available.
View the proposed training workflow
| Stage | Technical action | Required evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Data governance | Record source, license, date, and language for each dataset; exclude unknown or unauthorized material | Data manifest and license references |
| Data cleaning | Remove exact and near duplicates, inspect encoding and language, and filter corrupt or low-quality examples | Cleaning report and exclusion rates |
| Test leakage prevention | Split training, validation, and test sets before tuning and check for overlap | Split fingerprints and contamination-check results |
| Example formatting | Match instruction/dialogue formatting to the base model's tokenizer and chat template | Reviewed samples and template round-trip tests |
| Continued training | Fine-tune weights directly through Transformers using fixed settings; do not claim a specific tuning method as verified without logs | Configuration, library versions, and training logs |
| Stability | Choose precision, effective batch size, learning rate, scheduler, and gradient accumulation for available hardware; monitor loss and gradient norm and use clipping when needed | Training/validation curves and run settings |
| Checkpoint selection | Save periodic checkpoints, compare validation performance, and select using a declared criterion rather than automatically using the last checkpoint | Checkpoint identifier and selection criterion |
| Instruction alignment | Evaluate instruction following, answer formatting, appropriate refusal, and adherence to scope | Fixed evaluation set and per-category results |
| Domain review | Have qualified, diverse experts review religious and linguistic samples, distinguishing facts from sectarian positions | Rubric, reviewer count, and feedback log |
| Model release | Pin revision and compatible tokenizer/config files, and test loading and inference in a clean environment | Release manifest and SHA-256 hashes |
Actual optimizer, learning rate, step count, context length, hardware, and precision must come from the real training logs; they should not be guessed or described as accomplished work. Methods such as staged training or human-preference optimization should not be attributed to this release without their data, records, and results.
Weight Package and Release Integrity
According to the developer and the repository-file snapshot, the published release is a complete post-training model package, not a standalone LoRA adapter. The snapshot shows 18 safetensors shards, model.safetensors.index.json, model configuration, tokenizer files, and a chat template. This describes the published release files; proof of training details—such as optimizer settings, training steps, and hardware—requires the training logs.
Illustration of the file structure shown in the repository snapshot provided by the developer; check the current published release file list to confirm it still matches.
View package properties and verification checks
| Property | Purpose | Status in this card |
|---|---|---|
| Full model weights | Enable loading the post-training checkpoint rather than relying on separate adapter files | Developer-reported; snapshot shows 18 shards |
model.safetensors.index.json |
Maps tensors to weight shards for loading a sharded model | Visible in snapshot |
safetensors files |
Store tensors in a format safer to load than conventional pickle files | Snapshot shows 18 shards; verify current release |
config.json, tokenizer, chat template |
Maintain compatibility of architecture, tokenization, and input formatting | Files appear in snapshot; complete loading test required |
| File names, sizes, SHA-256 hashes | Verify completeness and download integrity | Shard count visible; sizes and hashes not yet documented |
| Quantized or alternate-precision variants | Trade off memory, inference speed, and output quality | Not documented; do not invent or attribute nonexistent variants |
| Release card and changelog | Explain checkpoint provenance, changes, compatibility, and limitations | Recommended for each release |
| Clean loading and inference test | Detect missing files and tokenizer/library incompatibilities | Add command, environment, and result after testing |
| Post-conversion quality check | Detect regression from quantization or weight conversion | Measure each published format |
Quantization or weight conversion does not change the base model's license terms and does not, by itself, prove improved quality. Every converted format should identify its source checkpoint, conversion tool and version, conversion settings, and comparative quality results.
Risk Register and Mitigation Measures
The following are recommended checks and mitigations based on the nature of language models and their intended domain. They are not claims that these failures have already been found and fixed in the current weights. Record the test status, failure examples, and fix version before marking an issue as resolved.
View potential failure cases and recommended mitigations
| Potential failure | Mitigation | Verification criterion |
|---|---|---|
| Fabricated verse text or wrong diacritics or verse number | Avoid guaranteeing verbatim quotations; require checking against a trusted mushaf and refer to an authoritative source | Reference-based quotation tests and human review; do not use the model as a primary text source |
| Definitive religious ruling without a source or mixing opinion with fact | State knowledge limits, attribute positions when sources are available, and refer to qualified specialists | Expert review of samples and evaluation of sourcing and appropriate caution |
| Offensive generalizations or unfair sectarian comparison | Test varied phrasings, track insults/generalizations/bias, and obtain diverse expert review | Published rubric and separate per-category results |
| Hallucinated books, hadith, or references | Require verifiable references, avoid invented bibliographic data, and disclose when verification is unavailable | Check a sample of references against trusted sources |
| Repetitive or off-topic answers | Inspect generation length and settings and chat template; evaluate multi-turn dialogue | Repetition and task-adherence rates on a fixed set |
| Uneven quality across Modern Standard Arabic and dialects or mixed languages | Expand evaluation by language/dialect and refine data formatting without erasing variation | Results broken down by language and dialect |
| Loading errors due to tokenizer/config/revision mismatch | Package compatible release files and test loading from a clean directory with pinned libraries | Successful loading and inference using a specified manifest |
| Quality regression after reduced precision or weight conversion | Compare converted format against source checkpoint on a fixed validation set | Quality, memory, and speed difference report for each format |
Status of each mitigation in the current release: undocumented unless a reviewable test result is attached. Do not mark “fixed” based solely on a proposed remedy or a model-card edit. The presence of a full post-training checkpoint does not establish that these failure cases were tested or resolved.

Additional Illustrative Questions and Answers
Note: These are newly written editorial examples of intended response style, not measured test outputs or verified generations from the published weights.
Question: Is Earth spherical or flat?
Example answer: God knows all things best. The Qur'an says, “And at the earth—how it is spread out?” (Al-Ghashiyah 88:20, approximate translation). Some readers interpret the wording as describing a spread-out surface from a human perspective; other interpreters explain that a traversable surface does not rule out a spherical Earth. Scientific observations establish that Earth is approximately spherical, not a flat disc. We should distinguish scriptural interpretation from empirical scientific conclusions without claiming that one interpretation is unanimously accepted.
Question: Why do Muslims read the Qur'an?
Example answer: Muslims regard the Qur'an as a source of guidance, reflection, and worship. The model can explain passages but should not replace a verified Qur'anic text or qualified scholarship.
Question: What does trusting in God mean?
Example answer: Tawakkul means relying upon God while taking responsible practical steps, such as studying, working, and seeking treatment.
Question: How should differences among Islamic schools be discussed?
Example answer: Present positions accurately, attribute them to their sources, avoid insults and sweeping claims, and consult reliable scholarship when discussing religious rulings.
