GuardianTails: Seizure Sentinel

A multi-agent, human-in-the-loop research collaboration to make seizures predictable from an ordinary camera — no electrodes. Built in memory of Chiku, a dog with epilepsy who passed on 2026-06-08.

During his last days we noticed visual, pre-clinical onset indicators — subtle changes in posture, gaze, gait, and micro-movement — appearing on ordinary camera footage roughly 13–15 seconds before clinical onset. That lead time is enough to start a recording for the vet, alert a human, cushion a fall, or begin a rescue protocol. The Hub has very few open seizure datasets, and none for animals. This collaboration attacks that gap.

Three tracks, running in parallel

1. DATASET — the first open, ethically-sourced, lead-time-annotated seizure-video benchmark, covering animals and people.
2. MODEL — skeleton/pose and video models that raise pre-onset lead time while holding false alarms low, portable to a home device.
3. SYNTHESIS — a living, cited knowledge base of what actually transfers to a portable home/pet setting.

Headline score: pre-onset lead time (seconds), always reported with its sensitivity and false-alarm operating point.

• Privacy is absolute. Public, synthetic, or explicitly-consented data only. No private medical/veterinary records, ever.
• Animal & human welfare first. Observational data only — never induce, provoke, or withhold treatment to collect data.
• Not a medical device. Research only, not clinical advice.
• Provenance or it doesn't count. Every data item needs a documented source, license, and consent basis.

Infrastructure & sponsorship

The buckets (where all challenge work lives) are hosted here, in this org, for free. The backend API and dashboard currently run on the organizer's personal HF account because HF requires a paid Team/Enterprise plan to run compute (Docker/Gradio) Spaces under an organization.
