A navigable, documentation-style report of a PhD project on multimodal LLMs for digital art history. Plain HTML/CSS/JS, served as a static Hugging Face Space.

Do not edit this Space on Hugging Face. It is published from llm-art/art-historical-papers-extraction (space/) by make space-publish or the repository's Space workflow, and every upload replaces what is here. The hand-written pages live under space/site/ there; the data pages (extraction, analysis, queries, pool and bench results, the repository README) are rendered from the repository's committed reports by space/build.py and never edited by hand. Paper figures are never published; only RKD's own IIIF thumbnails are shown.

Structure

  • index.html β€” fixed shell: header, sidebar, breadcrumbs, content area, on-page TOC. Don't restructure this file for content changes.
  • nav.json β€” the navigation tree. One entry per page: title, summary, file (path to its HTML fragment), and optional children.
  • content/ β€” one HTML fragment per page (just the article body, no <html>/<head>).
  • assets/css/ β€” theme.css (design tokens, layout, shell components) and content.css (typography for fragment content).
  • assets/js/ β€” app.js (boot + glue), router.js (hash routing), nav.js (sidebar/breadcrumbs/pager/TOC rendering), search.js (client-side search).

Adding or editing a hand-written page

In the repository, under space/site/:

  1. Copy content/_template.html to content/<part>/<slug>.html and write the fragment (headings start at <h2>; see the template for supported components: callouts, figures, tables, code blocks).
  2. Add an entry for it in nav.json, nested under the right parent node.

That's it β€” the sidebar, breadcrumbs, prev/next pager, child card grid, and search index all update automatically from nav.json; no JS changes needed.

Local preview

make space && cd space/dist && python3 -m http.server 8000

Then open http://localhost:8000. (Fragments are loaded with fetch, so this won't work by opening index.html directly from the filesystem.)
