NEXT_STEP

Current State

hai-github-gate v0 is a deterministic, GitHub-native PR gate.

It reads:

  • GitHub PR event data
  • PR body text
  • changed files via git diff
  • optional local fixture file lists

It does not currently detect or distinguish Codex, Claude Code, Hermes, OpenHands, Copilot, Pi, or other agents.

This is acceptable for v0 because the gate protects merge rights regardless of which agent or human created the PR.

Next Build Step

Add a small harness metadata adapter.

Required behavior:

  • Add an Agent / Harness section to the PR template.
  • Parse the section in scripts/hai_gate.py.
  • Print the detected source in the Owner Packet.
  • Add tests for codex, claude-code, hermes, openhands, copilot, pi, and human.

Do not hardcode the gate to only Codex or Claude Code. Keep the core gate generic and make harness-specific rules optional metadata/config later.
